We in JamesEdition are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join us during an interesting period of expansion and growth towards our goal of becoming one of the world's leading classifieds platforms. We are an international team with experienced colleagues (ex-Avito, -Rambler, -Yandex) working with clients all over the world (our main markets are the US, the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy). We consider ourselves a modern goal-oriented organization offering a flat hierarchy, minimum bureaucracy, high responsibility and remote-first culture, i.e. people choose where to work with complete freedom.

You will report to our General Manager and lead the work inside of JamesEdition with our DWH and ETLs for our event and data tracking across multiple tools and platforms. In this role you will have the opportunity to have a high impact on the business, and work with modern tools and massive amounts of data. This position is possible to do fully remotely and allows to work from anywhere in the world.

One of our core values is to be data-driven in everything we do. This means that you will work with data from different functions across the company (Sales, Marketing, Product, Tech and Finance) to consolidate and make it easily accessible for our data analysts and other stakeholders inside the company. We use several modern tools to collect and store our data, such as Airflow for ETLs, Google Analytics for web, Pipedrive for CRM, Mixpanel for product analytics, PostgreSQL for database, Segment for event management, etc, which is then aggregated in our data warehouse built using Google BigQuery and visualized in Tableau. For being a small company, we have a lot of data - we track more than 20 million events for almost a million users per month. As we scale, you will also have the opportunity to learn and set up new tools for an efficient data infrastructure.

We also use insights from our data in different parts of the site for pricing, recommendations, rankings, personalization, etc. and you will lead the work of building, sustaining and developing a data infrastructure that later can be leveraged for machine learning models.

Come join us on this journey to help us create the best data-driven company possible!

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Partner with Engineering to define our data infrastructure and maintain a solid grasp of our evolving data warehouse, data management and analytics.
  • Load data from different data sources into our data warehouse using ETL processes.
  • Closely interact with the members of the business and technical teams to ensure that Data concerns and priorities are addressed to achieve business objectives.
  • Make sure that we collect correct data, consistently across our different data sources (web, database, marketing) by maintaining and implementing proper systems and processes (data governance and data management practices)
  • Lead improvements of our data infrastructure by setting up new tools and services.
  • Establish and maintain strategic working relationships with outside companies and/or software/data vendors.

Skills & Requirements

What we would like to see from you:

  • 3+ years in a business intelligence/data engineering/scientist role in a digital company (preferably marketplace or eCommerce startup)
